NBC Behind the times

NBC is taking a trick from cable. Their shows tonight are starting 10 minutes off the hour. I noticed it a few days ago looks like it may be a permanent thing.

I'd like to think this is because the programming is only like 42 minutes long and they are getting rid of some commerical time, but me thinks not. Do you know why they are doing the 10 minute off-set?

My guess would be to trap viewers prevent the switch when a different show starts. I mean are you going to switch channels after you have missed the first ten minutes of the show? Maybe maybe not.

Sometimes NBC will run 45 minute shows, this may be what you are talking about. New episodes of Friends and Will & Grace are often extra long.
